Temporary closure of Bobtails - 5/11/2017We have some very sad news this evening, the last week here at Bobtails has been pretty awful, although we of course always fully vaccinate all our rescues we have had an outbreak of VHD2. All vaccinated rabbits are fine but we have lost 11 rabbits yet to be vaccinated for VHD2, because they were under 4 weeks old and the mum's as they were still feeding them. All were due for their jabs this week. Due to the nature of this virus and the risk of further contamination we have gone into lock down, no rabbits in or out of the rescue for the time being until we are sure it is safe to resume rescuing and rehoming. We take our husbandry very seriously and anyone that has visited us will know our level of care, this is a extremely contagious virus and we will not put any animals at risk. We are devastated by the loss of these babies and mums, only one baby so far has survived and appears to be doing well. No matter how long we do this for or how ever many animals have been lost over the years we still grieve for every one we could not save. |
We are next open:***After 20 plus years it is with great sadness that we have decided that the time is coming to bring Bobtails Rescue to an end. Bobtails will finally close 1st November 2022*** Breaking News
